Wales Poetry Award 2023

The Wales Poetry Award is now open for single-poem submissions from around the globe.

Entrants must be 17 or over at time of submission. Poems submitted must be written in English, single-spaced, in 12pt Arial font and must not exceed 70 lines, excluding titles.

There are three prizes of £500 (1st), £100 (2nd), and £50 (3rd) alongside a Seren book bundle and publication in Poetry Wales. The first place winner will also be given the choice of either a course (excluding those with application processes) at Literature Wales’ Tŷ Newydd Writing Centre or a week-long self-catered retreat at their dedicated writing retreat cottage, Nant.

Ten highly commended poets will be invited to read at our Awarding Ceremony, and have their poems published in an online booklet.
