Forward Prizes for Poetry 2022 shortlist revealed

The 15 poets shortlisted for the Forward Prizes for Poetry 2022 have been announced. This year’s judging panel is chaired by novelist and activist Fatima Bhutto, accompanied by poets Rishi Dastidar, alice hiller, Nadine Aisha Jassat and Stephen Sexton.

 

The Forward Prize for Best Collection (£10,000)

Shane McCrae – Cain Named the Animal
Kaveh Akbar – Pilgrim Bell
Kim Moore – All the Men I Never Married
Anthony Joseph – Sonnets for Albert
Helen Mort – The Illustrated Woman

The Felix Dennis Prize for Best First Collection (£5,000)

Warsan Shire – Bless the Daughter
Stephanie Sy-Quia – Amnion
Mohammed El-Kurd – Rifqa
Padraig Regan – Some Integrity
Holly Hopkins – The English Summer

The Forward Prize for Best Single Poem (£1,000)

Nick Laird – 'Up Late'
Clare Pollard – 'Pollen'
Carl Phillips – 'Scattered Snows, to the North'
Cecelia Knapp – 'I'm Shouting I LOVED YOUR DAD at My Brother's Cat'
Louisa Campbell – 'Dog on a British Airways Airbus 319-100'
