Benjamin Zephaniah (1958-2023)

We are deeply saddened by the news that Benjamin Zephaniah, poet, writer, actor and campaigner, and one of the original pioneers of Dub and Performance Poetry, has died.

Zephaniah expressed his commitment to social justice not only in his poetry, but also by actively campaigning for animal rights, anti-racism and other causes.

The items in our collection, published from the early 1980s to the present, span the library's printed, audio, visual and children's collections, and reflect the range of Zephaniah's work and talent.

We welcome you to explore them on your next visit.
