Shedman and James Brookes at Petersfield Write Angle

Read at the Write Angle open mic, or just enjoy the poetry and music. Performances will also be featured by Shedman and James Brookes.

Shedman, the alter ego of writer and poet John Davies, is inspired by all kinds of sheds – garden, aircraft hangars, shedding antlers or skins, tears or light. He creates workshops and events that explore the place of the shed and is now writing a book about his experiences: Round Britain by Shed. His published work includes The Nutter in the Shrubbery  and Glove Poems as well as Jizz – New and Selected Poems.

James Brookes, a postgraduate student at College of Law, received a major Eric Gregory Award from the SOA in 2009, with his pamphlet, The English Sweats. His work has appeared in Poetry Review, The Rialto, Horizon Review, White Review, The Wolf, The Swedish Joural Signum and on a church pew in Taunton. In 2011 he was awarded a Hawthornden International Writer’s Fellowship.
