Satellite of Love

Hear Sophie Herxheimer and David Briggs perform.

 
Sophie Herxheimer is a London-born artist and poet. She trained in painting at Camberwell and Chelsea. She’s held residencies for LIFT, Southbank Centre and Transport for London. Exhibitions include The Whitworth, The National Poetry Library and The National Portrait Gallery. She has illustrated five fairy tale collections, made several artists books, created a 300 metre tablecloth to run the length of Southwark Bridge, narrated an episode of The Food Programme from Margate and made a life size concrete poem in the shape of Mrs Beeton sited next to her grave. Recent publications include The Listening Forest and The New Concrete. Sophie teaches and collaborates extensively.
 
David Briggs is a Bristol-based poet, musician and teacher. His album, Landscape and Liability, came out with Unreal Records in 1999. Since receiving an Eric Gregory Award in 2002 he has published poetry in a wide variety of magazines and anthologies, including The Poetry Review. His first collection of poems, The Method Men (Salt, 2010) was shortlisted for the London Festival Poetry Prize, and Rain Rider  (Salt, 2013) was a winter selection of the Poetry Book Society. Between sitting down to write he has taught English and Creative Writing in schools and universities and for The Poetry School. His new book is Cracked Skull Cinema (Salt, 2019).
