Launch of 'Three Degrees of Separation' by Rachel Lewis
What happens to love when mental illness steps in? Why do some of us get better and some of us stay worse? How do families and friends hold together as the cracks show?
Hear Rachel Lewis perform from her debut pamphlet, Three Degrees of Separation. Rachel will also be joined by writer and audio producer Eloise Stevens and winner of the 2018 Forward (Felix Dennis) Prize for Best First Collection, Phoebe Power.
Written and submitted in response to The Poetry Cafe's 'Siblings' competition last year, Rachel's poems ask the difficult questions about love, family, and survival in the face of mental ill-health.
Author of Shrines of Upper Austria, Phoebe Power, has collaborated with other artists on various poetry, live performance and visual art projects and is currently based in York.
Eloise is a writer and audio producer based in London. Her poems have been published in No Bindings, The Bombay Review, Helter Skelter, Stinging Fly, and the Spoken Word London Anti-Hate anthology. She has performed these poems in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Pune, London and Edinburgh. Her debut poetry collection, The Beat of Beast, was shortlisted for The (Great) Indian Poetry Collective and the Melita Hume prize. She is now working on her first novel, set between modern day London and Bombay’s jazz era.
