Work with astrological archetypes for poetic insight and liberation.
Join poet, performance artist and astrologer Francesca Lisette for a transformational workshop in which participants will use the magic of the outer planets to bring structure, play and alterity into their writing process. Participants will look to Jupiter, Neptune, and Pluto as their muses and guides. A brief background of the astrological lore of each planet will be provided, then the workshop will look at literature and art which expresses the emotional states, developmental processes and general qualities related to that planet.
Participants will engage in embodiment practices, movement and visualizations to engender various states of attention, fluidity and awareness. They will read literature connected to each archetype, including Walt Whitman for his exuberance, the distilled clarity of Rumi, the visionary blend of myth and politics in the work of Diane di Prima, & consider Bhanu Kapil’s anti-spectacular writing through/against trauma. Likewise, they’ll consider cues from the worlds of visual art and cinema.
Dancing with will, intuition, and instinct, participants will experiment with writing poems from the perspective of wholly embodied beings, channeling oracular forces both within and beyond them.
