Of All the Languages I Speak, I Own None

This event celebrates the Poetry Translation Centre's latest Undertow programme, working with young poets from Nigeria and its diaspora.

Arimoku Obaigbena and Pẹ̀lúmi Obasaju will be in livelink conversation with Aaryan Khan and Nor, two emerging poets from Singapore. The groups will explore their relationships with language and poetry from their different postcolonial perspectives. In the context of the 525+ native languages spoken in Nigeria, and the four official languages of Singapore, the writers will also discuss what it means to be a young poet writing and living in a perpetual state of translation.

The conversation will be mediated by the Nigerian-British poet Tolu Agbelusi and the Singapore-based writer Laura Jane Lee.
