Cymru Euro 2020 Poetry Competition

The Cymru Euro 2020 Poetry Competition, organised by the Football Association of Wales and Literature Wales, invites primary-aged children to submit poems on the theme of identity for a chance to win a host of prizes.

Criteria:
The competition is open to children in year 6, and under.
Poems can be submitted in Welsh or English.
Children must either live in Wales or attend school in Wales to enter in English. All Welsh-language poems will be accepted.
Poems must be individual work.
Poems must fit on one side of A4, submitted on the downloadable template (available below).
Poems can be of any structure and do not have to rhyme.

Judges:
Two Cymru international footballers
Children’s Laureate Wales Eloise Williams
Bardd Plant Cymru Gruffudd Owen
Singer-songwriter Kizzy Crawford.

Winners:
One Welsh-language and one English-language winner will be selected. Winners will be announced before the Euro finals.

Prizes for both winners:
A Cymru football shirt signed by the Euro 2020 squad
A framed version of their poem signed by the Euro 2020 squad
A book bundle
A workshop for their school class by Eloise Williams or Gruffudd Owen.
*If a Welsh-language winner is from a school outside Wales, the workshop will be via a digital platform. If a winner does not attend a school, we will not be able to offer a workshop as a prize.
