Writing the Classics: online course

Writing the Classics: Exploring how poets have engaged with the literature and mythology of ancient Greece and Rome.

Explore the wide range of poetry in the English language responding to classical literature at this 12 week online course, and write 12 of your own new poems.

Each week you will receive a written tutorial by email, illustrated with audio and video materials.

At the end of the tutorial there will be a writing prompt to inspire a new poem, and you will be able to get written feedback on this work each week.

The course will be led by Dr Helen Eastman, Live Canon's director and classicist. Dr Eastman is former producer of the Onassis Programme, director of the Cambridge Greek play (in ancient Greek), associate artist and advisory board for the APGRD within the Classics Faculty at Oxford University, and has written widely on the reception of ancient literature in later poetry and theatre.
