Speech Painter's play in verse Walt Disney man or mouse? premiered at Apples & Snakes and was followed by his first one man show, Beating Time. Following that, he was co-host & co-programmer for ‘Pure Poetry’ at the Soho Theatre, a weekly cabaret show, which placed page and performance poets together on the same stage. This led to a film poem, This time next year, commissioned for Channel 4.
Apart from performing solo since ‘95, Speech Painter has also been a regular support act for chanson singer Philip Jeays and in 2014, with his love and fantastic rhythm for words, he joined Will Buchanan and Kylie Earl, forming their first band, ‘Radio K W G’ where he acts as their lyricist, backing vocalist and harmonica player. They have released three Ep’s and are currently working on their fourth.
Speech Painter’s book, The Twat in the Flat (Burning Eye Books - 2015), has led to his latest one man show, An Adult Dr Seuss, which turns childhood themes on their head with tales of addiction, tap dancing and bomb disposal.
There will also be a raffle for two free meals at a local restaurant.
