Workshop

Poetry and the Sea

Literature is haunted by that which covers two-thirds of our planet, the sea. Its myths and marine life offer inexhaustible inspiration for writers. This course, led by Paul Henry and Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch, delights in the sea’s influence on poetry and considers different approaches to reflecting its pervading presence in our poems – its rhythms, imagery and metaphorical qualities, its backdrop for memories.

Participants will also explore where the land meets the sea, combing the stunning shoreline near Tŷ Newydd for inspiration. Those either new to writing poetry or experienced in the art are welcome aboard this friendly, supportive weekend of writing workshops and tutorials.
