Poet in the City Presents Fragments of Home
Poet in the City host an evening of performance and discussion exploring the meaning and importance of home with poets Hannah Lowe and Caleb Femi. Take a wander through The Foundling Museum's exhibition Bedrooms of London, and allow poetry to unpack the tales tucked away in the corners.
Hannah Lowe is the author of two Bloodaxe Collections, Chick (2013) which won the 2015 Michael Murphy Award, and Chan (2016) and the family memoir, Long Time, No See (2015). She is currently a writer-in-residence for the Colonial Countryside project, alongside lecturing at Brunel University. Her latest publication is The Neighbourhood (2019)
Caleb Femi is a poet and director featured in the Dazed 100 list of the next generation shaping youth culture. Using film, photography and music Caleb pushes the boundaries of poetry both on the page, in performance and on digital mediums. Between 2016-2018, Caleb was the Young People’s Laureate for London working with young people on a city, national and global level. Caleb performs and speaks internationally gracing major stages, institutions and festivals. He works on global advertising campaigns.
Poet in the City produces classic and contemporary poetry performances taking on major ideas, issues and people. They showcase biopics, use poetry to animate moments of cultural and social change, and create dramatic poetry experiences in major arts venues and unusual spaces.
